Man stabbed over sorcery

An elderly man was stabbed to death on the suspicion of practising sorcery in Jayapanga village in Odisha.

RAYAGADA: AN elderly man was stabbed to death on the suspicion of practising sorcery in Jayapanga village under Gudari police limits in Rayagada district on Friday night. The deceased is 55-year-old Nagabhusan Palka and the accused is Judhistir Nisaka, both belonging to Jayapanga village.

 A four-year-old boy Anil had died of fever recently and prior to his death, some villagers had also died under mysterious circumstances. Locals suspected that the deaths were a result of sorcery done by Palka.

 On Friday night, Anil’s uncle Judhistir allegedly stabbed Palka. Police recovered the body on Saturday morning and arrested Judhistir. He will be forwarded to court on Sunday. The weapon  used in the crime has been seized from the accused’s house.
