CUTTACK: A day after a video of assault on a Plus Two pass out of  Ravenshaw Junior College, went viral and the victim filed a case, Malgodown police arrested one of the accused on Tuesday.

The accused is Ansuman Mohanty, a Plus Three Science student and boarder of Lalitgiri Hostel, said ACP Trinath Mishra. Police also launched a manhunt to nab other students involved in the incident, including main accused Subhrajyoti Ray, a BBA student, the ACP addded.

On the other hand, the victim’s mother Meera Mohanty has submitted a petition to Ravenshaw University Vice-Chancellor on Tuesday demanding stringent action against the accused.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Prakash Chandra Sarangi said, he has received a written petition from victim’s mother. “The petition has been referred to the inter-disciplinary committee for an inquiry into the incident and necessary action will be initiated after the committee submits its inquiry reports,” Sarangi informed.Police had registered cases against Subhrajyoti Ray and 8 other students of the varsity, Mishra informed.
