‘Plastic eggs’ found in Umerkote

UMERKOTE (NABARANGPUR): Artificial eggs, allegedly made of plastic, are now being sold in Umerkote under Nabarangpur district.Khagapati Bhatra, a resident of Bhamini village under Umerkote police limits, had on Wednesday morning purchased eggs from a shop in the village.

He tried to make omelette with the eggs and found a layer of plastic on it. Bhatra said the taste of egg white and yolk was also different from regular eggs. He rushed back to the shop from where he purchased the eggs and questioned the shopkeeper. The shopkeeper, however, said that he had procured the eggs from Umerkote market. Apparently, the eggs were supplied to wholesalers in Umerkote market from Andhra Pradesh.
