BHUBANESWAR: Minister for Forest and Environment Bijayshree Routray on Thursday announced that he will not contest elections from the next time and devote himself to organisational work according to the promise made by him while campaigning for 2014 polls.

“I will not contest any direct elections, for Lok Sabha or Assembly henceforth,” Routray told mediapersons. A six-time MLA from Basudevpur constituency in Bhadrak district, Rautray entered Assembly in 1990 as a Janata Dal candidate and  was re-elected in 1995 as a Janata Dal candidate.  
He was elected to the Assembly from Basudevpur constituency four times as a BJD candidate from 2000.
