SAMBALPUR: Poet Haldhar Nag and singer Jitendra Haripal called on Governor SC Jamir at Raj Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
During their interaction, they apprised the Governor of the art, tradition, culture and heritage of western Odisha and sought his cooperation in its enrichment and preservation. Reiterating the demand to expedite inclusion of Sambalpuri/Kosali language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, they also impressed upon Jamir to look into the issue of declaring 'Pancha Badya' or 'Ganda Badya' as a primitive art.
They further demanded setting up of Central Research Centre to promote, enrich and conserve 'Pancha Badya'. They submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor and requested him to take up the matter with the State Government.
