PARADIP: Villagers of Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts staged a demonstration and blocked NH-5A near Bhutmundei overbridge demanding reconstruction of a damaged road on Tuesday.
Villagers of Subala in Mahakalpada block of Kendrapara and Gadaromita village in Jagatsinghpur district use Subala-Gadaromita village road every day. Hundreds of Subala villagers come to Paradip Port to work using this road.

Following rain, the road has been badly damaged as a result of which, people are unable to use it. Even as people of both the villagers have urged the officials concerned to reconstruct the road, no step has been taken so far. Vehicular traffic was disrupted for five hours following the agitation.
Local tehsildar and district officials rushed to the spot and assured the agitators to look into their demand following which, they called off the agitation.
