RAYAGADA:In a similar case, another expectant mother was ferried by local youths across a river on a stretcher in Kalyansinghpur to reach hospital due to lack of road connectivity.

Sources said Aja Miniakka (25) of Talasaja village under Sikarpai panchayat felt labour pain early on Friday. Due to lack of communication as the Nagavali river had swelled, the family members of Miniakka, with the help of local youths, crossed the river by carrying her on a stretcher.
Reaching the other side, they took her to Sikarpai Primary Health Centre (PHC) on 102 ambulance. The condition of the pregnant woman is stable, said Dr Ashutosh Bishoi.
