‘Abducted’ Bangladeshi girl rescued in Rayagada

A minor Muslim girl of Bangladesh was rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday night from Muniguda railway station in Rayagada district.

RAYAGADA: A minor Muslim girl of Bangladesh was rescued by Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday night from Muniguda railway station in Rayagada district.

She was found in Allepey-Dhanbad Bokaro Express train by the RPF personnel and later handed over to Childline, Rayagada. The girl has been identified as Rukhsansa (16), daughter of Murshed Huki, a resident of Dhaoola village under Trisha police limits of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh.

During counselling by Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members, the girl informed that she was abducted by two youths from her village. When she raised an alarm, the youths injected something into her hand after which, she lost consciousness.

When she gained consciousness, Rukhsana found herself alone in a coalmine area. She, however, could not recollect how she arrived in India. CWC members informed that she appeared mentally unstable and spoke in Bengali. Child Protection Officer Ramesh Chandra Nayak said she has been sent for medical examination. Some documents, a PAN card and photograph were found in a bag that she was carrying.

The district administration has informed the Embassy of Bangladesh about Rukhsana and after completion of all the formalities, she would be handed over to her parents. Nayak also contacted the father of the girl and confirmed that the information collected from her was true. Her father had also lodged a missing report in Trisha police station.
