Odisha CM nod for irrigation projects

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who also holds the Water Resources portfolio, on Thursday approved work orders of Rs 90 crore for different irrigation projects.

BHUBANESWAR:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who also holds the Water Resources portfolio, on Thursday approved work orders of Rs 90 crore for different irrigation projects.

This includes Rs 36.71 crore project for digging and concrete lining of 3-km left canal of Anandpur barrage at Salapada on Baitarani river. Another project of Rs 11.93 crore for construction of special structure on left canal of Baitarani river barrage was also approved.
Work order of Rs 12.28 crore has been issued for construction of cross drainage for Rengali right irrigation project. While Rs 26 crore was approved for construction of some branch canals of Ret irrigation project, the estimated cost of Crick irrigation project at Akhada Sahi in Mahakalapada has been increased to Rs 10.13 crore from Rs 7 crore.
Besides, consulting agencies were appointed for mega lift irrigation cluster 9, 10 and 12. While Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) has been appointed as the consulting agency for cluster 9 and 12, charge for cluster 10 has been given to Aarvee Associates Limited (AAL). The agencies will supervise engineering work of the projects.
