ECoR’s exhibition on wheels to spread climate change message

BHUBANESWAR: Science Express Climate Action Special (SECAC), an exhibition train, will spread the word about global warming and climate change at four stations under the East Coast Railway jurisdiction between May 9 and 23.

The exhibition on wheels will chug into Bhadrak, Puri, Chhatrapur and Kottavalasa stations where it will use a variety of interaction methods with a cross section of society, especially students, teachers and general public about climate change and similar issues.
This Science Express Exhibition special, mounted on a customised 16-coach AC train, is an initiative of Department of Science and Technology in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Department of Bio-technology and Ministry of Railways. It has been designed by Vikram A Sarabhai Community Science Centre.

Of the 16 coaches, exhibition in eight, developed by MoEFCC, is exclusively devoted to information, case studies and materials related to various aspects of climate change, the underlying science, impacts, adaptation activities, mitigation and policy approaches in a manner that is easy to understand and interesting for not just school students but also the masses, a spokesperson for ECoR said.
The exhibition train will have stoppages and will open to public at Bhadrak Railway Station from May 9 to 12 (except May 10 which is a holiday), at Puri from May 13 to 16, Chhatrapur from May 17 to May 19 and Kottavalasa from May 20 to 23. The exhibition will open from 10 am and continue till 6 pm.
