A1 upgrade for Cuttack station in six months

A two-member Passenger Amenities Committee(PAC) on Tuesday carried out an inspection at Cuttack Railway station.

CUTTACK: A two-member Passenger Amenities Committee(PAC) on Tuesday carried out an inspection at Cuttack Railway station.During the two-hour inspection, the committee inspected existing waiting rooms, foot overbridges, catering stalls, food plaza, platforms, computerised reservation office, enquiry office, drinking water facilities and cleanliness activities at the station.

The committee members also interacted with passengers to study the difficulties facing them. The panel also took their valuable feedback for upgrading infrastructure of the railway station. They expressed satisfaction with the overall facilities and appreciated the cleanliness activities at the station.
Speaking to mediapersons, PAC member Ashok Tripathy said as per the direction of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, a country-wide inspection of different railway stations is underway. Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had requested Prabhu for upgradation of Cuttack and Berhampur railway stations.  
‘‘Cuttack Railway Station will be upgraded to A1 category within six months. The Railways has prepared a blue print and made special budget for the same,’’ Tripathy said. Meanwhile, activists of the city unit of BJP submitted a memorandum relating to different problems and difficulties facing the passengers at Cuttack Railway Station to the members of PAC.
