Man kills sister-in-law in Odisha

A 29-year-old man allegedly killed his sister-in-law Vinita and surrendered at Rengali police station on Wednesday.

JHARSUGUDA: A 29-year-old man allegedly killed his sister-in-law Vinita and surrendered at Rengali police station on Wednesday.

The accused Jaya Lal is a resident of Bhikampali village under Rengali police limits. He used to live with his parents, his brother and sister-in-law and their two children. Police said the accused and his family members suspected Vinita of having an extramarital affair with a local villager. Jaya’s elder brother Kailash is unemployed and due to poor health, he is usually, bedridden. This led to frequent arguments between Vinita and her in-laws.

On Wednesday morning, an altercation broke out between the accused and Vinita and in a fit of rage, Jaya hit her with an axe several times killing her on the spot. Jaya would be produced in the SDJM court on Thursday.
