Assembly committee to again seek appointment to meet PM

Though the House Committee had earlier sought an appointment to meet the Prime Minister, it did not receive any reply.

BHUBANESWAR: The assembly committee headed by Speaker Pradip Amat today decided to again seek appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to place the demand for a hike in the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.

"A delegation of the House Committee would like to meet the Prime Minister by June 30 to discuss the MSP of paddy," Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout said after the House Committee meeting, chaired by the Speaker.

Though the House Committee had earlier sought an appointment to meet the Prime Minister, it did not receive any reply. Former minister Sanjay Das Burma alleged that the PMO did not give time to the House Committee even after an appointment was earlier sought.

On March 25, the Odisha Assembly had unanimously adopted a resolution recommending the state government to urge the Centre to increase the MSP of common paddy from Rs 1,470 per quintal to Rs  2,930 .
