BHUBANESWAR: The East Coast Railways suspended a cleaning supervisor on charge of dereliction of duty today, a day after an Orissa High Court judge got off the Konark Express because of foul smell coming from a dead rodent in his air-conditioned coach.

"ECoR suspended a cleaning supervisor of Konark Express which departed from Bhubaneswar on November 3," a statement of the railway said.

The chief mechanical engineer of ECoR also visited the coaching depot at Bhubaneswar to inspect other trains, ECoR officials said.

They said the authorities have decided to give special attention to Rajdhani Express and Bhubaneswar-Bangalore Prashanti Express, besides Konark Express.

The ECoR's action came a day after Justice Biswanath Rath, who was scheduled to travel from here to Visakhapatnam, terminated his journey mid-way at the Berhampur railway station after the stench from dead mouse became unbearable in the A1 coach in the Bhubaneswar-Mumbai superfast train.

The judge has lodged a complaint in the railway register kept at the station.
