CUTTACK: The Orissa High Court Bar Association on Monday has decided to extend its cease-work agitation seeking appointment of judges till February 23. It also decided to launch a hunger strike from Tuesday. The general body meeting of the Bar Association was held under chairmanship of president Srikanta Kumar Nayak. It decided that the hunger strike will continue till February 23 on the premises of the bar association and all the members will take part in it.

During the agitation process, there will be no filing of cases and no client will be allowed to enter the court rooms to conduct their cases. A steering committee of the association, comprising 10 members, will monitor the strike and subsequent development. A memorandum will be sent by the Bar to President, Chief Justice of India, Prime Minister, Union Law Minister, Governor of the State, Chief Minister and Law Minister of the State. The next general body will meet on February 23 to take a call on the future course of action. All bar associations of Cuttack will be requested to pass similar resolutions.
