ROURKELA: Continuing with investigation, the Vigilance sleuths on Thursday detected 18 more incidents of fraud in construction of Individual Households Latrines (IHHLs) under the Swachha Bharat Mission.
Acting on allegations of irregularities, the anti-corruption officials on Wednesday and Thursday physically verified and found that 43 IHHLs were not constructed at five hamlets of Bolani village in Lathikata block of Sundargarh district. But payments of `5.16 lakh were cornered by the contractor in a well-knit scam involving some field officials of the block.
Vigilance DSP Dilip Kar said after completion of investigation, a case will be registered and arrest would be made.Vigilance sources said Junior Engineer of RWSS Bijala Roudia, Block Coordinator Rabindra Turani and contactor Bijay Das successfully punctured a technology-based payment and monitoring system and swindled the Government fund.
