BHUBANESWAR: The property of Dhenkanal RTO Basant Kumar Behera during the Vigilance raids on Thursday was estimated at more than `3.85 crore. It included a Mercedes-Benz worth `39.87 lakh.
Vigilance officers of Cuttack division raided Behera’s Government quarters in SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack, 4-BHK flat at Cosmopolis at Dumduma in Bhubaneswar, a residential building at Ranihat in Cuttack, house of a relative under Binjharpur police limits in Jajpur and his office in Dhenkanal.
During the search, the officers traced Behera’s seven plots in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack amounting to `1.86 crore, a flat in Dumduma worth `60 lakh, deposits in different banks amounting to `47 lakh, household articles worth `13.92 lakh, an SUV of `12 lakh, two cars worth `11.11 lakh, deposits in LIC amounting to `6.69 lakh, gold ornaments fitted with diamonds worth `3.9 lakh, `3.44 lakh in cash and two two-wheelers. “The total assets of Behera have been calculated at more than `3.85 crore. Searches were continuing,” a Vigilance officer said.
