BHUBANESWAR:In a bid to digitise legislative business, the State Assembly will be connected with e-Vidhan network very soon. Sources said the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) has chalked out a national plan to digitise the legislative business all over the country through e-Vidhan project. Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, all Vidhan Sabhas and Vidhan Parishads will be included in the network. The MoPA is the nodal ministry for the e-Vidhan project which will be implemented with a budget of `750 crore.

The Centre has asked the Assembly to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for digitisation of legislative business. The Assembly will prepare a DPR of `19.39 crore for implementation of the project. The Centre will provide `12 crore for taking up the project.

With a fully functional e-Vidhan, all transactions in both the Houses of Parliament and State Assemblies will be available with a click of mouse. While there are 31 Vidhan Sabhas in the country, there are seven Vidhan Parishads in Maharashtra, Karnatka, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has initiated steps for rolling out the project in all the States at an early date. One of the key component of the strategy devised for implementation of the project is to create Project Monitoring Units (PMUs) at the Central and State levels. Once the DPR is prepared by the Assembly and submitted, the Ministry will scrutinise it and sanction funds for its implementation as early as possible.
