Congress president Rahul Gandhi's visit boost for OPCC

Patnaik apprised Gandhi about the organisational activities launched by him after taking over as OPCC president and the future course of action to be adopted.

BHUBANESWAR: Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Odisha soon to boost the morale of party leaders and workers as a new team has taken over. The date of the visit will be finalised soon.
The issue cropped up during discussion between president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Niranjan Patnaik and Gandhi at New Delhi on Saturday.

Patnaik was accompanied by Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh, three All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretaries of State in charge of Odisha, Rudra Raju, Sk Mastan Ali and Anil Choudhury, joint secretary in charge of Odisha Aditya Sharma and three OPCC working presidents Chiranjib Biswal, Naba Kishore Das and Pradip Majhi.

Patnaik apprised Gandhi about the organisational activities launched by him after taking over as OPCC president and the future course of action to be adopted. “There was a detailed discussion on strengthening the party base at the grassroots and strategy for the forthcoming elections in the State,” Niranjan told mediapersons after the meeting.

OPCC working president Chiranjib Biswal said efforts are on to induct experienced leaders to the party who will work in coordination with the workers at the grassroots level to strengthen the base in the State. Odisha in-charge Jitendra Prasad Singh said the party will induct more young leaders to give more opportunity to youths.

Meanwhile, presidents of all 33 organisational districts of the party in Odisha has been announced.
Out of the 33 organisational districts, there has been no change in DCC presidents in 11 districts while the remaining 22 districts have new presidents. Besides, working presidents have been appointed under all the district presidents for better organisational activities.
