BHUBANESWAR:An institute on the lines of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar will be set up in Maharashtra soon. The new institute will be set up by KISS in collaboration with Lions Mumbai Choice Foundation. It will be known as Lions Choice KISS Residential School.

The infrastructure and establishment costs will be borne by the Foundation for which an initial investment of `60 crores will be made.Around 5000 underprivileged boys and girls will get a new lease of life through the free residential school. The institute will work for the upliftment of poor underprivileged tribal children of the State.

KISS founder Achyuta Samanta laid the foundation stone for the institute on Sunday at Jambha Village in Vikramgad Taluka of Palghar district, located just 100 km from Mumbai. The school is likely to start functioning from next academic session. Palghar is primarily a tribal-dominated district where young boys and girls don’t have access to good schools and are deprived of quality education.

On the occasion, Samanta said for the last five years, he had been thinking of opening a branch of KISS for the underprivileged children in Maharashtra. “Finally, my long cherished dream of empowering the underprivileged children in Maharashtra is coming true. It is only possible because of the love and concern of CA Sunil Patodia, District Governor, 3231, Lions Club,” he added.
