BHAWANIPATNA: A doctor was attacked by miscreants at Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital on Sunday night.According to sources, three persons came on two motorcycles to the hospital and without provocation, threw chairs at the doctor on duty Dr Abinash Tirki who was attending to the patients. The miscreants also broke a glass door and left the spot along with a patient.The incident took place in presence of private security personnel in the hospital.
Later, protesting the attack, doctors boycotted duty for a few hours. When the police reached the spot and tried to ascertain the identity of the miscreants from CCTV footage, it was found that the camera had been switched off since June 8.
At an emergency meeting of the doctors held on Monday, arrest of the miscreants and tightening of the security at the hospital were demanded to avoid recurrence of such incident in future. CDMO Dr Sarroj Tiadi said a delegation of doctors will soon take up the matter with the SP. However, the hospital is functioning normally, he added.
