Maoists kill villager in Malkangiri

MALKANGIRI : After remaining on the back foot for some time, the Maoists on Tuesday night killed a man suspecting him to be a police informer, near Dhakodrasi village under Mathili police limits.A native of Barubeda village, the victim has been identified as Anantaram Bhumia a member of Bhumia community. Sources said, two unknown persons had reached Dhakodrasi village at about 11.30 pm on Wednesday and asked Bhumia to accompany them to a cultural programme which was being  held in a nearby village.

However, Bhumia was taken to Dhakadarashi, about 10 to 15 km from the village, where around 30 armed Maoists were present. Later, the Maoists conducted a ‘praja court’ on the spot and after a trial they termed him a police informer. The rebels severely assaulted Bhumia before stabbing him with a knife. They fled the area believing that Bhumia is dead. 

Later, some villagers found Bhumia in a pool of blood on the outskirts of Dhakodrasi in an unconscious condition. But, Bhumia succumbed to injuries due to heavy bleeding while he was shifted to hospital, sources said.
