Centre must take control of Karnataka dams: PMK

Demanding the intervention of the Centre in getting Tamil Nadu its rightful share of Cauvery water, PMK founder S Ramadoss on Tuesday said the Centre should take control of dams in Karnataka through Article 365 if the government there failed to release water.

In a statement, he said at the height of the Cauvery issue this year around August 15, four major dams in Karnataka had 105 tmcft. Even after the completion of second round of cultivation, the state had 76 tmcft of water.

Instead of releasing  TN’s share, Karnataka was storing the water for summer cultivation. This was illegal if seen in the light of Tribunal’s orders, he pointed out.
