In a bid to streamline and ease the process of birth and death certificate applications, the Territorial Government on Monday launched an online facility. Henceforth, Municipal certificates could be applied online at Common Service Centres (CSC), set up by the government for the purpose, without going to municipalities or commune panchayats
The facility, launched by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, will be available at 42 CSCs, 29 in rural and 13 in urban areas. Applicants can apply for certificates across the counter pertaining to any municipality or commune panchayat.
The online application would cost a nominal `11, with `6 going to the local bodies and `1 to the District e-governance society. The certificate issued at CSCs would be digitally signed and its authenticity could be verified on, http://puduvaisevai.py.gov.in, using a security code mentioned on the certificate.
The CSCs have been set up on PPP mode with Tera Software Limited, Hyderabad, a service centre agency (SCA). The CSCs would be manned by village level entrepreneurs. In all, 28 CSCs have been set up in Puducherry, including eight at Karaikal, two at Mahe and four at Yanam. The location and addresses of the CSCs are available on, https://py.gov.in. The e-forms of five departments of Revenue, Labour, Higher and Technical Education, School Education and Social Welfare were also launched on Monday. Six services would be available for the Department of Revenue, three for Labour and Employment and seven for the Social welfare.
The Department of Information Technology has developed 145 e-forms covering 15 departments in 37 categories, said T Srikanth, Secretary, Information Technology. The service would be extended to other departments shortly .
The departments would download the applications for processing and update status on portal that can be tracked by the applicants at any point in time.
Under the e-district project, the IT department has planned to make available 61 services covering 12 departments by March 2014 and e-forms for 25 services by December 2013.
