Network for women launched

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launched the Indian Women Network (IWN), a network of women, by women and for women in Puducherry on Friday.

IWN aims to provide a platform for women from all walks of life to come together and create an environment which would increase woman participation in business and society.

Suchitra K Ella, Chairperson, IWN Southern Region and Joint Managing Director of Bharath Biotech International, said that IWN was focusing on three verticals, to reach out, to engage and to empower women.

IWN will look at government policies, which could be adopted to make work environment women friendly and provide equal opportunity to enhance inclusive growth and economic parity for sustainable development of the country.

Earlier, in his welcome address, K Amarnath, Chairman, CII Puducherry state council, said that unless the 500 million women in India are skilled and empowered, there would be no scope for inclusive growth.

IWN would provide the much needed platform for women to discuss issues and opportunities at work places and get to learn from each other’s experiences.

V L Indira Dutt, Joint Managing Director, The KCP Limited, who was the chief guest at the function, emphasised how the platform of IWN could provide women the much needed impetus to grow and leap forward.

Anuradha Sriram, Chairperson, IWN, Puducherry, and Cofounder, Joint Managing Director of Integra Software Service Private Limited, said the network would also be extended to students of final year graduation, post-graduation and working women to guide them and provide the opportunity to be mentored by experienced professionals.

Saplings were distributed to all the participants as part of green initiative  by Integra Software Services.
