Cuddalore, Nagai districts brace for rain battle

As the depression formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to make landfall at northern Tamil Nadu coast near Nagapattinam in a couple of days, distant cautionary signal number one (DC-I) has been hoisted at the Nagapattinam port for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
Besides, the district administration has also taken up precautionary measures to tackle the aftermath of depression.
According to the Meteorological department, as on Thursday the depression has been found stationary at 550 kilometers east-southeast of Chennai, 630 kilometers east-southeast of Nellore, and 570 kilometers east-northeast of Nagapattinam.
Meanwhile, in Cuddalore, collector Kirlosh Kumar held an urgent meeting at the camp office to discuss the precautionary measures to be taken.
