Three teachers of a Government High School in Arumparthapuram on the Puducherry-Villupuram Road, were transferred following a complaint from the Parent Teachers Association (PTA), that they had used the school computer to view pornographic material, besides asking a few girl students to watch it.
A PTA member said, “Two social science teachers and a physical education teacher used to watch pornographic material on the school computer. They had also called some high-school girl students to view it. One of the girls had informed her parents on Monday, after which it was brought to the notice of the PTA.”
The PTA, after making inquiries with other girls and checking the browsing history, lodged a complaint with the principal on Tuesday, who, in turn, brought it to the notice of the Chief Education Officer and the Director of School Education.
On coming to know about the incident, parents gathered on the school premises and staged an agitation.
Director of School Education E Vallavan, who visited the school and made inquiries, said that orders for transfer of the teachers were issued as per the advice of the PTA. The School Education Department is waiting for evidence. An inquiry committee will be appointed after discussion with the Secretary of Education. If there is prima facie evidence, stern action would be taken, he added.
