Fakrudeen: Targeted BJP biggies Advani and Modi too

BJP prime ministerial candidate escaped narrowly as he cancelled visit to Madurai at the last minute; killed Hindu outfit leaders on orders from Abubacker Siddique for hate speeches

In a shocking confession, Police Fakrudeen and his close associate Bilal Malick, both accused in the murder cases of Vellaiyappan and Auditor Ramesh, have confessed to their involvement in the planting of pipe bomb near Tirumalgalam on the rath yatra route of BJP senior leader L K Advani in Oct 27, 2011.  The duo also said that the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi too was on their hit-list.

Fakrudeen in his confession to the CBCID Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by DSP M Karthikeyan, during interrogations at Vellore, told that they planted the pipe bomb under a road over-bridge at Alampatti near Tirumangalm with an intention to execute Advani.

Explaining the modus operandi, Fakruddin told the sleuths that they planned to detonate the  bomb using a remote control system, which was connected to a battery using a seven-metre electric wire in a nearby bush, located a few metres away from the spot. Then Fakrudeen, Bilal Malick and Hanifa waited at a paddy field and kept a close watch on the bridge. Meanwhile, a farmer accidentally spotted the wire and alerted the police, which spoiled their plan, he said and added that after police and media persons reached the spot, all three of us mixed with the crowd and monitored the police action.

Regarding the motive behind their attempts, Fakudeen said, “I follow instructions of high command to kill Hindu leaders, who make hate speeches against Muslim community.”

When the police grilled him for details about his high command, Fakrudeen claimed that one Abubacker Siddique, who is now on the run, instructed him to kill Hindu leaders.

In another shocking revelation, the accused claimed that they were also planning an attempt on the life of BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during his visit to Madurai. “But, Modi cancelled his visit for a conference organised by Sourashtra community in Madurai at the last minute,” he told the police.

The duo admitted that they only murdered Paramakudi Councillor Murugan for denigrating the Muslim community at a public meeting. Similarly they bumped off Suresh, a milk merchant of Madurai, for demanding sexual favours from a Muslim woman in return for the loan he extended to her. Besides the murders, the duo had also stolen a Yamaha bike from Santhaipettai market in Vellore district, which was used in the murder of Suresh. They adopted the same technique in other murders too, according to their confession.
