Explosives sourced from Karnataka

Explosives seized from the hideout of terror suspects Bilal Malik and ‘Panna’ Ismail in Puttur in Andhra Pradesh were believed to be procured from a company based in Udupi district of Karnataka.

The CB-CID sleuths seized 17.5 kg of explosives - 202 electric detonators, 59 ordinary detonators, 77 slurry, 6 pipe bombs, 8 kg black slurry cell, 9.650 kg of explosive mixed with slurry, a tiffin box with magnet and timer -  from the rented house of Malik on Saturday.

It is believed that these were purchased from Keltech Energies Ltd based in Viswasnagar in Udupi. “Some explosives had labels of the firm on it,” said a source. The Bomb Squad collected samples, similar to the ones seized from the murder spot of Hindu Munnani leader Vellaiyappan. It would be sent for an analysis.
