Vijayabaskar is new Health Minister

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday inducted Dr C Vijayabaskar (40),  representing Viralimalai Assembly constituency in Pudukottai district as the Health Minister.

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday inducted Dr C Vijayabaskar (40),  representing Viralimalai Assembly constituency in Pudukottai district as the Health Minister.  KC Veeramani, hitherto holding health portfolio has been appointed as the School Education Minister. On September 5, the then School Education Minister Vaigai Chelvan was dropped from the Cabinet and since then, Higher Education Minister P Palaniappan was looking after that portfolio as additional charge.

Vijayabaskar is a new face to be inducted into the State Council of Ministers.  With his appointment, the strength of the State Cabinet has gone up to 33.  He will be sworn in as Minister at a function to be held at Raj Bhavan on November 1.

A communique from Raj Bhavan here said Vijayabaskar would look after Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare. Veeramani will take care of School Education, Archaeology, Sports and Youth Welfare, Tamil Official Language and Tamil culture.
