Leaving no stone unturned to win all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the upcoming Parliamentary elections, AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday nominated person to be election in-charge for all constituencies, well ahead of all other political parties in the State.

All ministers, MPs and key functionaries of all wings of the AIADMK and headquarters office-bearers have been given the responsibility of election-related works at all levels. Ever since the AIADMK government assumed office in May 2011, the AIADMK chief has been exhorting her party cadre and functionaries that the 2014 LS elections would be a golden opportunity for the party to be a decisive player at the Centre.

Addressing the party cadre at the AIADMK general council meeting on December 30, 2011, Jayalalithaa exhorted the worker not to remain complacent thinking that there was no urgency for the Lok Sabha elections that were two years away.

“The AIADMK flag will fly high at the Red Fort. The AIADMK cadre should work to achieve this goal right from now,” Jayalalithaa had said, adding, “If we could make it to the Lok Sabha, at that time, we will be the determining force... and we need not be begging for our rights, including water issues.”

“The time is fast approaching for the AIADMK to make great strides in national politics.  The two leaves will blossom and flourish in places beyond Tamil Nadu,” Jayalalithaa added.

On August 30, Jayalalithaa renewed her call to the party cadre to work to win all 40 seats. “The country is moving in a wrong direction now. You (the AIADMK cadre) should discharge your fieldwork to win all the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, which would strengthen my efforts and political steps to change the course of the Nation. Definitely we will win all the 40 seats,” she had said.
