POLLACHI: In yet another shocking case, two minor girls were abducted at knife-point from a children’s home here and raped on Wednesday night. The girls, aged 10 and 11, were residents of the TELC home for children located near the Pollachi Old Bus Stand. One of the victims belongs to a tribal community.

According to personnel of the Pollachi All Women Police Station, the culprits approached the house around 11 pm asking for a glass of water. They then threatened the two victims at knife-point and attacked another resident of the house, Manikandan, when he tried to stop them, police said. Manikandan rushed to warden Suresh who in turn informed the manager about the incident.

The police reached the spot on information and found the two girls in an unconscious state on the terrace of a commercial complex 50 metres from the home. The victims were undergoing treatment at the Pollachi GH and were said to be stable. “The police should punish those who committed this heinous crime,” parents of one of the victims said.
