Evolve Mechanism to Make Teachers Accountable: L-G

PUDUCHERRY: Lt Governor A K Singh on Wednesday directed Education department to evolve a mechanism for establishing accountability and responsibility of teachers in order to impart quality school education.

Sub-committees will be constituted for this purpose and a consultative process need to be conducted along with an Education Audit by experienced agencies, he said after reviewing the activities of the Directorate of School Education. Further, the L-G directed officials of Education dept to participate in a seminar being conducted later this month in Andaman on this topic to familiarize themselves with the procedures to be evolved. He directed officials to submit a blue-print of initiatives within one month, for comprehensive improvement of school education activities.

 He also directed the Education Secretary to prepare schemes and programmes for training teachers and students in achieving all-round academic competence. A pilot project in this regard is to be started immediately involving experts in the field of school education to streamline teaching and learning process.
