CB-CID Grills Ahmed's Mom, Dad and Uncle

VELLORE: The CB-CID has inquired three family members of Shameel Ahmed (26), who died allegedly due to the injuries sustained in illegal detention by Pallikonda Police, on Friday.

Sources in the department said that the investigation officer of the case and DSP (in-charge of Vellore Unit) Anantha Kumar inquired Ahmed’s parents — K Shah Jahan and Faritha Banu — and his uncle Kalil for more than an hour.

After the case was transferred to CB-CID, the investigation team of the unit conducted an inquiry with four policemen attached to Pallikonda station. The team had also inquired Ahmed’s father-in-law Mohammed Ghouse and his uncle Ali Akhbar. The police is yet to summon then inspector of Pallikonda C Martin Premraj, who is the prime accused in the alleged custodial death case of Ahmed.

“The Inspector is on medical leave since Saturday,” said a police official.
