VELLORE: Two men, including an engineering graduate, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court-IV on Wednesday, in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old welder, Palanisamy, who was hacked to death by a six-member gang near Karumalaikudal Police Station on Sunday night.
C Sathish (22), an engineering graduate, and his friend R Rajesh (20), a diploma holder in Civil Engineering, of PN Patti near Mettur, surrendered before Magistrate of JM Court-IV N S Meenachandra. The magistrate directed the police to lodge the duo in judicial custody till July 15 in the Vellore Central Prison for Men.
Sathish claimed that the Karumalaikudal police had implicated him and his friend in the case.
“I was at the spot when the murder took place. Out of fear, I took to my heels. When I ran from there, my phone fell on the spot. After finding the phone at the spot, the police named me as one of the accused,” alleged Sathish.
