Left to Bolster its Campaign with DMDK, TMC

CHENNAI: Having hooked the MDMK of Vaiko and the VCK, the Left parties are planning to draw actor Vijayakanth’s DMDK and Tamil Maanila Congress led by GK Vasan to bolster their joint struggle against the Central and State governments on issues of corruption, communalism and anti-people economic policies.

CPM politburo member and State secretary G Ramakrishnan told reporters here on Friday that Left leaders had planned to meet Vijayakanth and Vasan to seek their support and participation in the joint struggle of Communist parties.

Expressing optimism, he said “It will turn out to be a huge people’s movement. We are holding continuous protests against the wrong economic policies of the governments.” Earlier, Ramakrishnan met CPI State secretary R Mutharasan and chalked out plans for the protests, as part of the nation-wide campaign against corruption on July 20.
