COIMBATORE: Members of the Tamil Nadu farmers association have decided to conduct a conference 'Protecting Water Source in Kongu Region' at Chinni-yampalayam on August 16.
“There are a few educational institutions, schools and resorts that have encroached upon Noyyal river near the western ghats, and preventing water flow to agricultural lands. The government should immediately take steps to remove encroachments and ensure water flow to agriculture land,” said S Palanisamy, president, Tamil Nadu farmers association.
The members have convened a meeting on Monday in the city to discuss organizing about the conference.
The members have decided to release a book about the demands of farmers to implement pending water schemes and a short film which explains past and presence scenario of Noyyal river.
