CHENNAI:Faced with a flood of complaints from consumers that pressing ‘0’ on the IVRS mode while booking gas refil results in ‘Opting Out of Subsidy’, oil companies have clarified that it isn’t so. Explaining the process, a press release said, “Even if the customer presses ‘0’ by mistake, IVRS would prompt him to confirm it by pressing ‘7’. Even after submission of request by pressing ‘7’, the final confirmation is done by the distributor after taking consent of customer.” Cconsumers had expressed fear that their subsidy would be stopped after they had pressed ‘0’, though they wanted the subsidy.
