THENI: Theni women police arrested Suresh (48) of Min Arasu Nagar near Theni for allegedly molesting his two-year-old daughter when the baby girl was sleeping soundly in a cradle recently.

Police said Suresh, a van driver, took Malar as his fourth wife a few years ago. They were living together with their two-year-old daughter at Min Arasu Nagar.

Suresh, an alcoholic, came home drunk recently,  and began molesting his daughter while she was sleeping in a cradle. Malar who saw this tried to prevent him but he threatened to murder her.

Malar then fled with her baby daughter from the house. She informed the district Child Line after Theni women police delayed registering a case against Suresh.

Muniswaran and Vijayalakshmi of Child Line took the child to Theni General Hospital where the two-year-old child was medically checked.
