Penalise SI for Trespass, Says Government Pleader

Govindan in his petition to DGP claims Mohammed took away document copies.

MADURAI: M Govindan, Special Government Pleader, Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Saturday filed a petition with the Director General of Police demanding action against a sub-inspector and five others who he alleged had trespassed into his house in his absence and took away legal documents.

Govindan claimed that Mohammed, sub-inspector, SIPCOT police station and five others barged into his house in Velangualam village, Manamadurai taluk, Sivaganga on Friday evening in his absence.

“Though the watchman Murugan pleaded with them to inform me, the sub-inspector took away photocopies of documents that have my photo as well,” said Govindan to Express over phone after submitting the petition. . “When Murugan questioned the police, the sub-inspector said they were searching the house because I requested the Sivaganga SP Durai for protection,” said Govindan, state joint secretary, Legal Wing, AIADMK.  Govindan said he had informed the Sivaganga SP that rowdy elements from Velur, Avarangadu, V Pudukulam, Erumpukudi and Sithalur near Velangulam village were committing murders in metro cities.

Govindan requested the Sivaganga SP to increase police patrolling in these villages. “I have also asked for police protection for me because I am facing threats from these people. Some policemen have informed the rowdies that I have been informing higher officials about their activities in the district. Hence they are targeting me,” he claimed.

“As I often visit my village to help the needy, I also asked for police protection,” he said.

“Outraged by the petition to the SP, the sub-inspector checked my house to damage my reputation. When he searched my house, the villagers saw it,” he claimed.

When Express tried to contact Sivaganga SP M Durai, he was not available.
