CHENNAI: DMK president M Karunanidhi on Wednesday urged the State government to take up proper legal steps for the release of the three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
He welcomed the verdict of the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court upholding an earlier verdict by a two-member Bench commuting the death sentence of the three convicts Santhan, Perarivalan and Murugan. Karunanidhi also added “None of us welcoming the verdict are justifying the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi”.mand.
DK president K Veeramani hailed the verdict of the Constitutional Bench as ‘historic, just and humane judgment’.
