VELLORE:The process to avail educational assistance from the State and Central governments through scholarships has been made simpler.
Earlier, students belonging to minority communities such as Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Parsi and Jain, had to submit income certificates from the revenue department to ascertain the family income.
Now, parents/guardians of the candidates can give a self-declaration letter mentioning the family income without attaching a income certificate from the revenue department.
Similarly, mark-sheets can be self-attested by the candidates, as opposed to the practise of having a gazetted officer sign them earlier.
The district administration in a communication said that the new norms must be utilised by students belonging to minority communities in order to avail educational assistance for themselves.
