IIIT-Kurnool to Kick Off With 2 Courses

CHENNAI: The new Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) for Kurnool is all set to begin classes from July. It will be mentored by Indian Institute of Information and Technology Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram, which will extend its infrastructure and faculty for the initial years.

IITDM will incubate the new branch, providing both classrooms and hostels at its campus in Chennai, until the 124-acre new campus is built at Kurnool.

Two undergraduate courses are on offer from the new IIIT - B.Tech Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with an initial intake of 25 students per course. Admission to these courses will follow the status quo selection process, through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) as is followed for IIITs (Allahabad, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Kancheepuram.

Classes for IIIT-Kurnool are set to begin from July 2015. The parent institute has been offering both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in IT and IT-enabled design and manufacturing since its inception in 2007. It’s Director, Professor R Gnanamoorthy, will act as the Mentor-Director of IIT-Kurnool.
