Avvaiyar Award for Shanthi Ranganathan

CHENNAI: Dr Shanthi Ranganathan, honorary secretary of TT Ranganathan Clinical Research Foundation and Swami Dayananda Saraswathi Educational Society, has been chosen for the Avvaiyar award of Tamil Nadu Government for  2015. The award carries Rs 1 lakh, a gold medal and a citation.

Instituted to mark the International Women’s Day by former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in 2012, it was to encourage women excelling in social reforms, women’s development, communal harmony, arts, science, culture, journalism and administration etc.,

Educationist Mrs YG Parthasarathy received  the Award in 2012. In 2013, Dr V Shanta, chairperson, Adyar Cancer Institute was honoured with this award. Dr K Mathangi Ramakrishnan, chairperson of The CHILDS Trust Medical Research Foundation, Nungambakkam was presented with this award in 2014.
