CHENNAI: Asserting that the Madras High Court had encroached on the State government’s powers by ordering CISF cover for its campuses, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday appealed against its order in the Supreme Court. The State government, in its affidavit, argued that the restrictions on the State police placed by the High Court were affecting them from effectively handling law and order issues in the court campuses. “Even for deploying additional police force, the High Court’s permission has to be obtained. Even when there is a law and order problem within the High Court campus, the police have to inform the Chief Justice, High Court of Madras, give advance information to the Chief Justice for mobilising police force and take steps to handle the situation,” said the affidavit.
