Eighty Post Offices in Tamil Nadu will offer the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme, being launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CHENNAI: Eighty Post Offices in Tamil Nadu will offer the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme, being launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.

These include 20 Head Post Offices and 30 major post offices.

The Sovereign Gold Bond scheme is one of the ambitious projects of the Centre, aimed at encouraging people to invest in gold bond scheme instead of physical gold.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had introduced the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme as an alternative for physical gold during the Union Budget for 2015-16.

The sale of gold bond scheme will be issued on Rupee payment basis and denomination in gold grams.
