COIMBATORE:As many as 12 trains travelling towards and from Coimbatore were delayed by four to five hours on Friday due to erosion from railway-track beds near Kalingarayan canal in Erode. Flow of floodwaters over tracks led to the ballast (crushed stones) and soil being carried away from under a track. The trains are- Cheran Express, Yercaud Express, Nilgiris Express and Dhanbad-Alleppey Express. The trains were operated at a slow speed of 10 km per hour in the area as it could not be fixed due to stagnation of rain water on the spot.
