CHENNAI: A class VIII girl was found dead in suspicious circumstances in the toilet of her school at Sriperumpudur on Thursday. Her relatives resorted to a road blockade on Friday demanding action against the school management alleging their negligence had resulted in the girl’s death. Police said Divyasree (13), of Bajanai Koil Street in Iruganttukottai and student of Vivekkananda Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, was suffering from epilepsy, suspected to be the reason for the death. However, the family and relatives denied the version and said the girl had no illness. The relatives suspected that the girl could had been killed by snake or scorpion bite. They also pointed out that the school campus was located in middle of a farm land and students had always complained of frequent sightings of snakes and scorpions. After the protests, the police have registered a case and referred for autopsy.
