VELLORE:Seeing war veterans’ attempt to burn or return their medals as an insult to the nation, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday said the medals, given by the government to honour them, were a recognition of their sacrifice. The One Rank One Pension (OROP) was the poll promise of the BJP party, which was fulfilled, he said. The government has sanctioned an annual package of Rs 8,000 crore for former servicemen, said the Minister at a press conference in INS Rajali, Arakkonam. If anybody seeks more, they can present their case before the judicial committee, he added.
