Tel Aviv Keen on Developing Ties with Puducherry, Says Diplomat

PUDUCHERRY: There is lot of scope to strengthen ties with places like Puducherry, said Acting Consul General of Israel in Bengaluru Amb Dov Segev Steinberg, who called on the Territorial Chief Minister N Rangasamy at his chamber on Tuesday.

Steinberg, who is on a day’s visit to Puducherry, said a new Consul General would assume charge in January. The Consul General would take the initiative in developing ties with emphasis on South India and Puducherry within the broad framework of diplomatic ties between the two nations.  

After the few visits he had made and his meeting with Rangasamy, Steinberg was optimistic of the relations that he said would continue and develop with the Union Territory.

“Israel has expertise in the areas of water and agriculture,” said Steinberg.

Besides promotion of cultural exchanges, he said he was here to deliver a lecture on Israeli art.
